It's very convenient to northern San Diego county. Either SNA or SAN can be more than an hour away without bad traffic. And of course many small airport conveniences, with the fallback of several options on reasonable distance if things go south.
I'm 35 miles from SAN and 60 miles from SNA. I can see the CLD runway from my balcony. I am very happy with recent developments. I have a house in Scottsdale so the AA flight is awesome. As you said, traffic can be ferocious at times making that 35 mile drive a long one or a very expensive Uber.
