The waiter had no idea about wines, so couldn't advise on a choice.

Only thing that was actually great was discovering the Macardo Swiss single-malt "Chapter 1 - The Slightly Smoky": cask strength, only 940 bottles. If you like slightly peaty sherry-bombs, this is worth a try! Retails for CHF146, so well-priced for the FCL IMHO.
