It was a 319 and they seem reluctant to do late swaps to 320, probably due to the crew reason you mention (and possibly because of the night stopped crew in MUC too, if that applied). The 319 fleet is now quite small, so all in all it's a logistic headache.

Maybe short of someone in muc who could work down the back on the way back next morning, so the end up cancelling 2 flights, the outbound and the return?
