I get that we don't really trust the system (I myself have very little trust in this version of AY), but the FAQ said (and it was kindly posted by northysouth some posts above)
* all travel extras bought for money at any time for flights that already qualify for this promo also gets 2x points
* the term travel extras include upgrades

So while they may or may not post automatically, it does not seem to be any loophole for AY to claim it shouldn't count.

Ironically, they made it extra difficult for people to do cash upgrades right now. I have bookings under the promo and would pay for a cash upgrade in an instant, but that door is closed. Plenty U but by new rules cash upgrades are not made available. So they really did not syncronize: First give incentive by promo for cash upgrades, then in reality remove cash upgrades from the options, at least for longhaul.

So while no one might have succeeded in doing a cash upgrade lately, it would be interesting to see a postback as soon as someone succeeds, both as to promo points posting automatically or not and to how much of the upgrade price is considered "spend".
