Oh absolutely, and it's why it needs to be a priority now. It's gonna take years to build.

In many ways, taking a job like that would be a dream job for me being an aviation geek and a software geek. I am 20 years into a software career and I have really been enjoying rearchitecting a service our team owns. But to make a commute daily down to Tukwila at those wages... there's no way I would even bother interviewing for that. Especially with the merger going on and the company's culture being questionable at best. We know they read FT so to the folks in the C-Suite at Alaska: you need to pay your software engineers industry standard wages if you want to attract average talent. Paying below market wages isn't gonna cut it. This isn't rocket science, or to use your own words, "ambiguous."
