they are still in order. American plans to give their 22+ year old 772s a nose to tail revamp and new business class seats. they surely must plan to let them fly for another 5+ years.
as long as they are save and maintained properly I'd rather fly on a 27 year old 777 which has proven to be save than a new plane with the problems some new planes have these days.
