i don't think any of those explain it. in the AS website the reservation shows the silver status. Also it's 3 pax all silver but none can select regular seats. I ended up cancelling and trying again but same problem. However when I book directly on AS no problem. Yet just five minutes before I had booked two other tickets through Chase for the same pax and didn't have this problem.

Realized they're having major IT so not going to bother them and maybe this is related?

There is some time pressure to burn these points because Chase travel portal will not necessarily offer same redemption value as of c 10/26.
