I truly don't understand why UA is so far behind DL and AA in terms of Premium cabin meals.
DL is a profit machine and they offer pretty decent food in Premium cabins, my Japanese friend and his wife flew DL from Haneda and he said he enjoyed his flight, it was not JAL or ANA he said, but good for a USA airline.
He felt the best part of flying DL was that he arrived in ATL which he said was a far better Immigration experience than other airports he has arrived in the USA.
He absolutely refuses to fly UA, he said Polaris just isn't worth the money and he and his wife pay full freight and they mainly fly JAL which they prefer over ANA.
When I was in Japan, I flew JAL First Class domestically and it was fantastic, no choice of meal, but what was offered was of high quality and the service was amazing in a very Japanese sort of way.
