This infamous tax reeks so much of mismanagement and failed calculations, it's just incredible!
I will actually be at LIM on October 27th (as a non-connecting passenger though) and *am looking forward* to screaming "vendors" walking around with mobile terminals, queues in front of the payment kiosks and collapsing ground staff checking receipts before boarding. Of course, a good amount of passengers will make use of online payment, yet many will simply not be aware of the collection of that tax in the first place. In any case, it will be quite a zoo, I assume!
Also, I am just wondering how they will identify that someone has paid or not. Back in the days, stamps or stickers were the solution, but in the age of digital boarding passes, this seems to be difficult, especially if airlines do not back up the move.
We just can hope that LAP will reflect and find alternate ways of recovering their investment without taking it out that bluntly on the passengers.
Otherwise, for sure, LIM - MCO is not the last route going down the drain. Such a pity!
