Westjet does not have economy line at all in YYC for international flights - it is ALL automated with boarding pass kiosk and then the baggage kiosk where you scan the bag tags that you attach to the bag and place it in the conveyor opening. There are a couple of roving helpers that will assist with any issues like at a self-checkout counter. Very impressive when it works and depressing when it doesn’t! Basically economy passengers need to do all the work themselves lifting the bag etc. The baggage kiosk where you lift the bag into also has an automatic weigh machine that will then charge you extra if it is overweight and refuse to take the bag!!
