I've read that Qantas is now using the new Cathay Pacific lounge at YVR and Business Class passengers + Platinum members etc gain access but there's no clarity on whether these types of lounge invites can also work?
My suspicion is that these only work on Qantas' own lounges and not partner lounges but thought I'd ask here if anyone has any experience with this.!
My understanding only for use at some QF operated lounges and at Mania lounges in NZ
They are not the same as status lounge entry or class of travel lounge entry

A Complimentary Lounge Invitation is an invitation to enjoy the Qantas lounge before you fly, or gift to another Qantas Frequent Flyer. The invitation provides single-visit access to eligible Qantas-operated lounges when your next onward flight has a Qantas (QF) or Jetstar (JQ or GK) flight number
My view is same general rules to all type of single lounge invitation/passes.
May be wrong but thought the person who was not able to use could "link" it back to you. Of phone QF for help [but low chance of success]
