Thanks for the response, I am not sure why I shouldn't have cancelled. If I had not cancelled, then surely I would be listed as a no show, thereby even further weakening my case. I do have Travel Insurance.
With voluntary cancellation, it is up to you to prove the opportunity cost arising the cancellation.
