Maybe it's been awhile since you flew AA? I've had my family's FFN/KTN's stored in my profile for a number of years. Whenever I've booked flights, I've always been able to select the passengers and all their info would auto-fill.
There was this annoying display glitch for a long time where the KTN was saved, but would not populate on the screen, leading one to think it wasn't saved.
If you left it blank (ignored the fields) and created the booking, it would correctly apply the additional passenger's KTN.
