December 20 – July 31 at least 60 days prior to arrival date to avoid full cost of stay cancellation fee. Cancellation will be 100% nonrefundable
August 1 – December 19 at least 14 days prior to arrival date to avoid full cost of stay cancellation fee. Cancellation will be 100% nonrefundable
Definitely frustrating, but would offer you’re lucky to have not encountered this previously.
Because third party booking sites tend to automate the information from the hotel, the more complex the terms, the more likely they become confused in presentation. So what may be clear on the hotels own site, becomes confused and poorly presented on the Avios site. Equally likely the hotel just likes confused terms to get keep money they’d otherwise lose.
Thanks. Haven't seen that but sorry to hear it can also happen on that platform. Don't even get me started about the infamous "resort fees" in Florida, Las Vegas, and Hawaii. For those examples you mentioned, how is the presentation? Got a screen shot?
Would be interesting to compare the same two properties, for the same nights, on Avios vs the Chase booking site if both are in their respective inventories. I'm not saying it would be better on one than another in this given case, but it would be interesting to see if one is more confusing or unclear than the other. I probably did overreach in my statements about Avios, so I apologize for that. I'm just hypersensitive to losing points in any way; I tend to be hypervigilant about it, so this whole incident shocked me.
