I'm glad you got it sorted out satisfactorily. If you had run into resistance I would have suggested you dispute it on the basis that the Consumer Rights Act states that key terms must be made prominent and displayed such that they are brought to the consumer's attention in a manner that a reasonable and observant consumer would notice them. Key terms such as the policies for a refund must not be hidden.
Given the screenshots below I am not surprised that you were able to reach a satisfactory conclusion with the merchant.

A few screens more and you see this. You have to click on the refund policy link; otherwise you'd never know the rate was non-refundable.
Initial booking screen
When you click on the Refund policy, which I consider hidden and mildly scammy, then you see that the room is not, in fact, refundable. Not very transparent. But now I know to check. And contrary to what someone else advised or implied, I've never had to click deeply to know whether I'm booking a refundable or a non-refundable rate.
