Hi,

Whilst Huis ten Bosch is not a proper Japanese experience ( it is a replica Dutch town with lots of amusements, rides, 3d effects , windmills, porcelain museum etc, )
Have been there twice ( stayed overnight at the JR Okura hotel just outside the gates)
When I was there in May ( rose festival) I liked it a lot and on a beautiful day it is great to walk around even if you do not go into all the attractions.I came down from Fukuoka. stayed 1 night at Huis ten Bosch and then down to Nagasaki the next day
The nighttime illuminations are great and it was worth staying overnight so you did not have to worry about travelling back
There is a European Holy Christmas event on until 5th January which looks very nice.

PS: Loved Nagasaki as there is so much to do there ( spent 5 nights there in May). Fukuoka was interesting ( beaches etc) but the weather was cool and damp when I was there ( some nice museums though)
