I was able to add the Hyatt Regency SF SoMa reservation to my Hyatt profile. The credit card listed is a different one than I paid and "EXPEDIA VIRTUAL CARD WILL BECHECK-IN" was added to the reservation notes.
I queried Chatgpt and it told me the note is a "red flag if you’re hoping to earn Hyatt elite qualifying nights (EQNs) or points. It indicates that Amex Travel (The Hotel Collection) is paying the hotel using a virtual credit card issued through Expedia...So, to Hyatt, this looks exactly like an Expedia booking, not a Hyatt-direct booking...Consequences: No World of Hyatt points or EQNs...Globalist benefits are discretionary."
Any advice other than booking as "Pay at check-in" and hoping for the best?
When I spoke to a Globalist line representative, they confirmed only FHR rates are eligible for EQN and THC are not. I would not risk it if you're banking on the EQNs for status. Find another eligible rate (AAA) or see if the hotel would honor the THC rates if you call them. YMMV
