That was not my point. If CLT-SFO gets printed menus, sundaes, and an overall elevated service, but CLT-LAX doesn't, that wouldn't make sense to the average flyer. They would see SFO and LAX, see that they both are on the west coast in the same state, and assume service standards are the same between flights. Especially if PHL/MIA-LAX does get the elevated non-premium transcontinental service standard, it wouldn't make sense to the ordinary flyer that CLT-LAX would get a lesser service standard.
I understand AA wants to be consistent and "fair" with their mileage cutoffs, but I distinctly remember even UA, back in 2012, when standardizing service with CO, had a 2300 mile threshold for transcons (appetizers, sundaes, etc.), but IAD-LAX/SAN fell under 2300 miles. Despite that, UA made an exception for those flights and treated them the same as 2300 mile + flights. AA should make an exception for CLT-SoCal flights to match what CLT-SFO/SMF/PDX/SEA gets.
