Both my Q3 and Q4 credits were applied within a day or two of the charge going from pending to posted, with the credit backdated to the posted purchase date. Same behavior as with other Amex credits where the benefits tracker updates around a day before the credit is applied to the statement balance.

Unfortunately I think you might be out of luck with your gift card purchase. Did you purchase an e-gift code or a physical card?
