Multiple hotels call or 6-7 in the last 6 months have tried to get me to pay for early check in. The most aggressive Sheraton Nashville wanted me to pay $100 for checking at 10:30am. I ask confused does theat even apply to Titanium she paused waived the fee and gave me a key. Every place I've been I've got them to waive it. I normally fly in mornings so arrive between 9am-11am.
I've never had anywhere ask me to pay for early check-in in the past 25+ years. The only issue is sometimes what they have available isn't the UG or room type you want. I've also never had a property refuse or ask to charge for lounge access (or suggest I can't eat - LOL) while I wait for an available room or suite to be cleaned...I've even found many to be darn apologetic they don't have anything available at whatever time I arrive...clearly YMMV.
