In my experience those who complain loudest about ‘elf n safety’ would be the first to scream blue murder at BA if they went down with food poisoning…

Just in the same way the pilots don’t take risks with fuel loads or duty hours, BA are right not to take risks with the onboard catering. I agree that a £50 voucher for Club pax would have been more appropriate, but their decisions on catering in these instances are sound.
