Guaranteed Early Check-In
Most properties that I have arrived in the Unted States my flight lands in the late morning or early afternoon. I have not met a problem with the check-in time.
About three months ago I flew from Los Angeles to Taipei on an afternoon flight arriving in Taipei at 4:05 A.M. By the time I collected my luggage and took a ride to the Sheraton Grand Taipei it was about 6:30 A.M. The front desk clerk said my room was not available. The Lounge opens at about 7: OO A.M. I asked the clerk if we could go to the lounge until my room is ready. The clerk said there would be a charge to use the lounge before the room is ready. So, I can sit in the lobby for three hours or more until my room is ready. You can go to the lounge, but use can eat any food. I said OK. Then he made a telephone call and said it would be okay to eat.
In the lounge one host said if you eat anything we will be charged. I called the Marriott Elite number and the representative said someone would call me back. I never received a call.
I am flying over to Taipei in a couple of days, and I am taking the same scheduled flight. This time I am going to Kaohsiung Marriott. I must take the High-Speed Train to Kaohsiung. I estimate my arrival time would be about 9:00 A.M. The hotel check-in time is 3:00 P.M.
I called the hotel and the clerk said that if I arrive early, I could pay for a day and have access to a room. I asked can I use the lounge if I arrive early? The clerk said there would be a charge for using the lounge before check-in.
