as i live in the northern part of Chonburi province, Suvarnaphumi airport is not much more far away than Utapao airport, so I do not see any reason I would use it.
As far ase I know, there are many more flights during high season; also international to Russia, China, Malaysia, Singapore. I think even one of the large middle eastern airlines considered flights to/from Utapao

I really do not understand the fixation of certain policy makers on developing UTP as a ‘hub’ - other than military interests and maybe cargo for the EEC manufacturing sector, I really do not see the market for it. And even in terms of cargo, that would likely be by sea.

Indeed, during high season there is more traffic from Russia and China. QR did fly there for one season, and was heavily subsidised by the local government to keep it flying. Ultimately, they pulled the plug as it was not viable.
