There is also other things to learn from it. It's it a pilot so AirNZ, Ops, maintenance, Airports, etc understand long term daily running of an electric aircraft.
Gives airports clear signal they need solar, battery banks & grid connection in place to charge planes in a timely manner. Or at least learn what they need & what works best for airports.
On that think CHC airport in their current Dev plan is putting in a solar farm, think initially selling back to the grid but in later phases going to make Hydrogen on site. Think they are part of an Airbus study/pilot.
And the plan for the solar farm involved computing all the angles of panels and angle of the sun to ensure no reflections in the approach cone & blinding pilots..
