The OP should be aware that AA currently offers just three daily ORD-SLC nonstops; if he mis-connects, he would have a LONG wait for AA's evening departure. In the event of a mis-connection, BA might well decide to re-route him on DL or UA, if doing so would enable BA to avoid UK261 compensation.
