This is a night flight so don’t expect too much fluff (or drinking!) but thought I’d do it anyway (2150 scheduled take off which is 0350 uk….landing at 1240 uk).
After sunning all day by the hotel pool & having many slushy ginodka cocktails, we slipped off to the airport at 1930, arriving at 2000. Luckily the hotel gave us a free day so we could shower before arriving here.
2005 spoken with a very enthusiastic check in guy who tried to upgrade us off his own back..but we knew there’s no First so had a good laugh with him and grateful at his enthusiasm. He tells us the flight is early (it landed an hour early too!) so we’re looking forward to getting on soon.
2015 though security fast and into the shared lounge. Not great but at least no queue. Here’s a snapshot of the food we ate.

2045 this place is getting v busy so we decide to leave. We aren’t exactly starving for this food anyway. Standing by the gate is actually nicer 😆
2058 boarding group 1. I don’t know how we were the only group 1 given so many people are in business? Or is business group 2 on long haul? Anyway very quickly group 2 got called. Data point: no group 0.
2100 / 0300 UK we hop on to the plane. Business means business today: no upgrade to Flub, so club suite with a door. It’s also quite an empty flight.
The seat is so tight compared to the way in (Flub -
read the review here).
2120 / 0320 drinks tray takes its sweet sweet time but finally arrive by a snappy crew member. Doesn’t bode well for the next 8 hours 🧐.
2125 / 0325 boarding complete, a polite request from the IFM for everyone to stay in their seats & it’s a quiet flight but menus handed out.
2129 / 0329 Skywaiter comes round to take our order.
2139 / 0339 Customer Excellence Manger - not IFM - came over to say hello & have a chat about the holiday. Nice guy. Going to ask him more about that role later on!
2141 / 0341 Senior first officer tannoy message to say hi and says we’re ready to go 10 mins early, with a short flight time of 08h15 to LHR.
2150 / 0350 we are all checked off & headed to run way.
2200 / 0400 we hit the skies and the IFM introduces the IFL working in WTP/WT & intros the customer excellence manager working the same. I’m gonna disturb him after the service; maybe it’ll be my next job?!
2220 / 0420 longest seatbelt signs ever!? Still on, no door shutting yet. This plane is a year pld, I want to test out the door! Drinks make their way out.
2221 / 0421 yours truly spills his champagne everywhere! Lucky i had the blanket on. Crew was great, didn’t make me feel like an idiot & got me new bedding (spare seats helped!). Now 13A smells of champagne; I’m not mad at it.
2225 / 0425 seatbelt sign off. I close my door. Here’s what it’s hiding me from.
2235 / 0435 dinner. Disappointed to hear no sparkling water. The Customer Excellence Manager is gonna hear about this!! Crab to start.
2250 / 0450 they want to move on fast, but I like to savour fine dining. Main comes out, and I swap to a White wine.
2255 / 0455 no thank you. Super dry chicken.
2310 / 0510 chocolate lava cake. Hopefully not super duper dry….
2320 / 0520 cheese time.
2335 / 0535 gonna go for a walk about. Crew are happy for the chat.
2350 / 0550 turbulence - seatbelt sign. I tuck myself in to see if I can get some rest (but if the seatbelt sign goes off, I may go for another walk).
- Nothing to report. Got myself a few hours of broken sleep & ruminated that all heavy snorers should be confined to one part of the aircraft -
0500 / 1100 1hr 10 to landing. Woke up to the sweet smells of microwaved bread coming out for breakfast & join in. Not sure what the etiquette is at this time of the morn but I open the window blinds for a view of the world.
0530 / 1130 I go for a long chat with the Customer Experience Manager (more to learn about the role than my feedback). Interesting job. Not sure I can jump in to the role given my 0 hours flying as crew.
0600 / 1200 we are told it’s 20 mins to landing. We join a queue and are currently circling the skies.
0620 / 1220 landed at LHR 20 mins early. I like the post-match round up that happens.
0625 / 1225 because we are so early we have a big fat A380 in our C-gate spot! We get told it’s 5 mins. But it’s never 5 mins at Heathrow..

0642 / 1242 Pilot announces we’re moving to another stand…but that’s occupied too 🙄
0655 / 1255 We finally get off at B gates. Let’s see how longs the bags take now…
