In that vain, and totally OT, 2018 flying out of Montevideo. Early morning flight and it was lashing it down. We managed to get in the air and sat through the very worst turbulence I have ever experienced in all my flying years. It lasted about 20 mins as the crew managed to break through the clouds and finally hit clear, blue sky. The only thing that kept me mildly sane was the sight of half a dozen nuns in the cabin and I figured, "Well, He's not gonna take them so we should also be safe."
They closed the airport right after we took off.
