My plan - in any case - was going to be -
BA248
1800 - 0835+1

BA464
1320-1650

this is a long enough layover to either:
1. If short ticketed; to just collect without looking suspicious
2. Long enough to justify short ticketing (citing customs, or personal preference??)
3. Or, as others have said, demand my baggage and then just leave through T5 arrivals and no-show for my lhr-mad flight

What do people think?

Or, is guaranteeing a 24 hour (or longer) layover in London the easiest way to “guarantee” a short check from GIG-MAD?
Personally I would try and engineer the 24 hour stopover as then you know the bags will be coming out to you at LHR baggage reclaim without having to go and ask for them. Slightly less hassle imho
