As
UK Travel Bear says, you know your child best. With my own child (currrently 6yo), ideally I'd try not to book a layover like this, but sometimes you have to go with what's available.

I certainly would not be trying to keep my own son awake from his usual wake up time of 7am all the way to midnight body clock time. He would be collapsing as we'd be going through security! I might try pushing his night sleep back a bit in the days before the trip, given that Chile is 4 hours behind Luxembourg during northern hemisphere winter (and the tendency of Latin Americans to do things later in the day anyway) but he'd still need to be up at 8am to make the first flight at 11am.
A nap in a hotel room around 1700-1800 Luxembourg time (1600-1700 UK time, 1300-1400 Chile time) sounds about right to me, although it limits the activities that can be done during the layover.
When I have booked day rooms they were typically for 0900-1800. In this case a hotel room for 1300-2000 (UK time) might be better. I believe Aerotel T3 offers rooms for specific times, or else see if any hotels will extend the check out until 7pm. Maybe even a normal room with 2pm check in might work if they let you in a bit early.
Even if the child doesn't manage to fall asleep, a space to have quiet / calm rest time would be helpful so I wouldn't consider it a waste if they don't sleep.
Another possibility is to rent a car, though in this situation I would only do so if there was something specific I wanted to do with a car.
