Their policy is crap. And no, they don't waive fees for anything related to a death, even family. My mom died a couple of months ago, and they did waive fees for refunding HER tickets. But my ticket (even as 1K) and other family tickets (it was over the holidays) could be cancelled and reused, but fees do NOT go away.
