I must have had a half dozen instances requiring the second line people. Half of them involved things not done right the first time (refunds), the other half involved schedule changes that were impossible (second flight leaving before first flight arrives), and people saying nothing could be done.
All were resolved satisfactorily by second line people, who came on after being asked for a supervisor.
I fly on Iberia awards annually, for about 10 years. My last cancellation for two had all the taxes refunded but only the miles for one. Haven’t needed to escalate but they do it right far less then all the time.
Your advice is poor and given with attitude.
Assuming you called the USA IB number, can you tell by accent if they are Spanish or from America (continents)? And has it changed in the 10 years ?
