There will be a new AC (as well as various other international airline clubs), about 30-35 different concessions - the works. The terminal is bright, open and AAiry - not the low ceilinged nastiness of Terminals A,B and C. The terminal is configured to be able to accept (2) A380's at the same time (one at the North end, one at the South end). The new peoplemover is located inside the sterile area and will make a complete circuit in 18 minutes or will get you to the furthest point in 9 minutes. The trams will be bi-directional so you won't have to go to Terminal B to get to Terminal C. The have also set up a special heating/deicing system on the track so that winter weather will not have an effect on operations.
he complex is due to open July 1 - this will make this Chicago travel to Dallas much happier!
Wow, thanks for the update! I keep seeing information that it is due to open "Summer 2005," and am glad to hear the date in question is July 1. I can't wait to use it!
Quick question...you mentioned ORD LAX and NYC flights going out of D. I am surprised to hear that b/c I remember a bit of a controversy with AA and DFW on whether the Canada flights would be in D or in ABC. I think I recall DFW wanting them in D but AA wanting them in the other terminals. I thought that was b/c AA needed all of the D gates for int'l flights and didn't have room to spare to put Canada over there. But based on what you have said, it is b/c they wanted to put some premium routes within D and leave Canada over at ABC. Someone else will likely remember these details better than I...is anyone else surprised they are running domestic flights out of D?
