Can't speak for everyone, but I've had awful luck getting AS airline credits to auto-reimburse. Only once has it happened for me; ironically, that was on actual airfare (under $100), and nothing else has auto-credited for me. Maybe others have had better luck. The good news is that I've never had pushback when requesting the credit via chat, as long as I've waited a few weeks to ask.
