For affordable and not too dorky (or technical) I like Columbia. But then - Columbia is one of the few outdoor/active brands that actually fits a size 16 woman. C'mon, how about some love for the larger women who want to be active outside?? Eddie Bauer sometimes has cute stuff (now it's mostly casual stuff, but they do still have some lightly technical offerings). I have shopped at REI - I love REI - but rarely for clothing, alas. Good suggestion to browse & try stuff on there, though. The store brand is pretty good.

I have some baleaf shirts & tights & they're fine - haven't seen/tried any actual pants from them though.
