I have to thank Duhh for encouraging me to take another shot at it. It has only been what, four days?, and TK actually got back to me sorting it all out. Counterintuitively, my official elite status is now rolled back to 31 Oct 2026 (instead of 31 Oct 2027), and my protection status is now saying "You have provided protection for your Elite status. After 31 October 2026, a new period will begin with your Elite status.", instead of, previously, "You can protect your membership status with 22,463 status miles." The status protection bar is also a full gold now, showing all of my 42,000+ status miles clocked in Year 1. I am assuming that the new period mentioned in the corrected text is the regular two years, as per a regular elite member - sent TK another email to get them to put this down in black and white!

So, I now technically have four years in the bag through the status match challenge and lots of flying in M1-M12. It's probably better this way than to hurry to clock another 22,000+ miles for trips I hadn't planned, in Nov 2025 - Oct 2026 (which unfortunately has already been blocked out by one big antipodean trip - on Cathay - that could have otherwise earned a lot of TK status miles). I will have to be mindful to fly TK / *A only, come Nov 2026 for future extensions.
