Business Class Awards on First Class Flight
I'm having some frustration with Alaska CS on what I believe to be a shortage of points awarded on a recent first class trip and I was hoping I could run it past FTers for a sanity check.
I bought an AA ticket marked first class. According to AS's award charts, a first class ticket would entitle me to 150% of miles awarded as points. However, it's in the I fare bucket, which on the AS award charts is labeled business class, and so they have awarded me 125%.
The issue is not only that AA sells I fare as first class - I understand that they can't control the fare labeling of every airline they partner with - but that if I were to buy I fare AA tickets through the AS site, AS also sells it as first class. Everything on the ticket, from point of sale through to travel, is first class up and down the board - but their award chart states that I fare is business. AS CS is remaining firm that there is nothing wrong with their award charts, but I see a clear discrepancy here. Has anyone else run into this? It seems to me that it's misleading at best, and slimy in general, to sell a fare as first class but then treat it as business class after the fact.
I'm ready to be wrong when presented with new information, but kindness requested in the corrections, please. It's a hard enough world out there.
