I'm glad you enjoyed my former home away from home. I was surprised you rented a car given the high availability of taxis, but your trips to Sylvia Grinnell park and Apex probably justified it. I'm glad you were able to see the Aurora - it's a special sight.
Thanks for the pics of the new hotel and conference center - I debated whether to stay there on my most recent trip, but in the end stayed at the Frobisher Inn which is closer to the center of "town" and connected to a couple of restaurants, store, and movie theater. Black Heart Cafe and NuBrew would both have been on my list of recommendations, so I'm glad you enjoyed them.
For people that enjoy travel, I'd heartily recommend Iqaluit for a trip and also as an eye-opener for how people live on the frontiers of modern society.
I'm old enough that the current airport terminal is in fact the third one I have flown into in Iqaluit. And 'back in the day" the only place to get a beer in town was the Canadian Legion. There's also a documentary to be made about how Ethiopian refugees became the most common taxi drivers in this arctic Canadian town. It's very odd (but also wonderful) to get into a destroyed, barely running minivan at the airport and be surrounded by Ethiopian pop music as you tour around dropping off people on the way to your hotel.
