Choice Partnership with Wells Fargo is Deeply Broken

Folks,


Would love folks’ ideas of how to resolve a persistent and increasingly complex issue with the Wells Fargo credit cards and Choice rewards program. The partership seems to be a complete hot mess and at this point I’ve been trying to resolve this for literally years with no resolution. Wells Fargo blames Choice and says this has nothing to do with them. Choice blames Wells Fargo or replies back to me with explanations showing they clearly don’t understand the problem or are trying to get me to drop it. I’ve tried emailing Choice executives and received no response – I have received responses from Executive Customer service, but they don’t seem to understand at all. I’ve also messaged them through Flyertalk but have received responses that are, again, bizarre to put it simply.

I’m at my wit’s end here – I’m about to file a complaint with my state attorney general consumer complaint’s división. Another option is to take Choice to formal arbitration (I intended to do that some months ago, but have tried to resolve in other ways first – it really seems like the nuclear option). But the reality is that I am not receiving the elite status I should be and losing out on several thousand dollars of benefits annually because of technical problems between the two partners. I am curious how many other people this has happened to? Are people just dropping it? I’m not going to drop this – as it is infuriating and I’m getting the runaround.

Here’s the basics:

- I applied as was received the Choice Privileges Select Mastercard back in 2023. As part of the program, you receive an initial 20 elite nights, and then receive another 20 elite nights each subsequent calendar year you have the card open. I received the initial 20 nights, but never received the additional 20 elite nights in January of 2024. I closed the card in 2024.



- In 2024 I applied for and received the normal Choice Privileges Mastercard. With this card you receive an initial 10 elite nights when you open it and then receive another 10 elite nights each subsequent calendar year you have the card open. I have never received any of these elite nights.



- Additionally, elite nights I earned, or should have earned, through the credit cards never rolled over from year to year after elite thresholds were reached (for example, I had 70 elite nights at the end of 2023, which should have given me diamond status in 2024 and rolled over 30 elite nights into 2024, but only 10 rolled over and Choice cannot explain why). Choice at first said that credit card elite nights don’t roll over. When I pointed out that there is nowhere in the terms and conditions that states this, they stopped saying that, but just won’t answer why elite nights haven’t rolled over.



Right now I should have Diamond status. It’s so frustrating. The responses from Choice are really weird – sometimes they just repeat to me how the programs work, other times they have made claims that don’t seem to make sense (like that credit card elite nights can’t roll over from year to year), other times they have referred me to Wells Fargo. The latest thing is they are claiming that I reported my credit card as lost or stolen or something. I think they are referring to the first card I opened – the Choice Privileges Select, which I closed in 2024. But they don’t seem to understand that when you report a credit card as lost/stolen, another one gets issued to replace it. They also don't seem to understand I have another credit card the Choice Privileges Mastercard, which is open right now and which just posted points to my account this month.

I’ve asked them to audit my account and for the case to be passed to someone senior. I’ve asked to have a phone call. No reply to any of these requests, which I think are reasonable. I'm just going around in circles for months.

Anyone experienced something similar to this and have ideas on how to resolve it? This seems totally insane at this point.
