I have Travelbank funds I want to purchase for my friend for UA codeshare (Air Canada metal) flight. I plan on buying a regular economy ticket in the friend's name, and cancel after 24 hrs. I presume then my friend will be issued a future flight credit. I then use the future flight credit to purchase the UA codeshare flight (since i understand that FFC can be used for codeshare).
Does this sound right?
Bonus question: does the same apply to child ticket?
TIA
I'm in the same (well actually similar boat) and want to verify this still works.
I found an Air Canada flight in First Class on Google Flights that lead to united.com for ticketing. The fare is less than $90 more than the UA (or AC) coach fare and includes 2 free bags. We have $$$ in P2's TravelBank (accumulated from Amex Business Platinums) that I finally have a way to burn off. I have purchased 2 tickets on a United non-refundable (non-Basic) Economy fare. My plan is to cancel this tomorrow (after 24 hours), and then use the FFC that will be generated to purchase 2 of the aforementioned Air Canada tickets. There will be a small fare add that I will pay with a CC.
Does all this look fine, or do I need to do something differently? (As of this writing I'm within the 24-hour cancellation period). Thanks in advance FTers!
