New AA/International Terminal at DFW

I had the opportunity to get a "sneek peek" of the new AA/International Terminal under construction at DFW. All I can say is WOW! AA will have about 20 of the 29 gates in this new terminal. All international flights and key business markets (New York, Chicago, Los Angeles) will all use this terminal. There will be a new AC (as well as various other international airline clubs), about 30-35 different concessions - the works. The terminal is bright, open and AAiry - not the low ceilinged nastiness of Terminals A,B and C. The terminal is configured to be able to accept (2) A380's at the same time (one at the North end, one at the South end). The new peoplemover is located inside the sterile area and will make a complete circuit in 18 minutes or will get you to the furthest point in 9 minutes. The trams will be bi-directional so you won't have to go to Terminal B to get to Terminal C. The have also set up a special heating/deicing system on the track so that winter weather will not have an effect on operations.

The Grand Hyatt looks great - very Westin/W "ish". Rooftop pool and healthclub with two treatment rooms (massage/manicure) and complete locker facilities with steam/sauna in each. The hotel will have 298 rooms (of which 45 will be suites). The great thing is that they will be able to do check-in, BP's and Luggage Check-In for any domestic flight out of DFW for hotel guests. For those attending a meeting there, check you bags in the morning as you check out of the hotel, go to your meeting then straight to the plane.

The complex is due to open July 1 - this will make this Chicago travel to Dallas much happier!
