I’m an Air Canada 50K member (Star Alliance Gold) flying to Europe on an Aeroplan Standard Reward in economy. My itinerary:
- Outbound: Air Canada (to Europe)
- Within Europe: multi-city Lufthansa / Air Dolomiti flights
- Return: Brussels Airlines (connecting to Air Canada in Brussels back to Canada)
I know my outbound Air Canada flight allows 3 checked bags, but I can’t get a straight answer on the allowance for the intra-Europe Lufthansa segments or the leg home originating with Brussels air.
Both the airlines and Aeroplan keep referring me to each other — neither can confirm what the luggage allotment will be. The European airlines have something called economy light which only allows carry-on and no one knows whether a standard reward corresponds to that or to economy.
Does anyone know what the
actual baggage policy would be in this case? I’m fine paying if needed, but I’d rather not prepay if I’m entitled to free baggage. Waiting until I get to the airport would more than double the prepaid fee.
