An update from my stay this week. Upgraded to an ocean view king as a Globalist. The room is fine as centrics go.
Gym is not open.
Bar / restaurant is part of the 3rd floor lobby. The atmosphere is terrible. While not published anywhere, the kitchen closes at ten. The bar closes at 11. There is an automatic 20% tip on all orders - which is fairly common in Miami Beach.
Globalist breakfast is off the menu. Nothing special but there are enough options.
The GM is new (has been here about 4 months).
updated to add that my bill had a breakfast and a random gratuity on it. The night auditor could not remove either one. The hotel did resolve it a few hours later and I am satisfied with their apology.

I have a 1 night stay coming up because it was $100 cheaper than the Andaz but man I’m not looking forward to it. Last trip I had breakfast every day on my bill even though I didn’t even use the breakfast benefit and the guy at the desk thought I was trying to pull a fast one on him asking for it to be removed. Hoping a new gm will fix the service issues but I’m not overly confident.
edit: just checked in and wow night and day from last time. Got a 1pm check in and the gal was very friendly. Greeted when I entered at street level and told where check in is. I got upgraded to a king ocean view deluxe. It was a double upgrade from when I checked early this morning where it was just a basic ocean view room. Way better than the base room we had last time. I honestly like this room more than the andaz basic room. Just funny I said I’d never be back here but I needed a cheap night so here I am. I won’t be able to do breakfast so at this point it’s unlikely I’ll have any service issues. It’s only for a night but not too shabby for a last minute booking the day before on a $150ish rate.
