I recently spent a night at the Four Seasons KL, which I booked through the United Chase Renowned Hotels program. Between this and the nearby Mandarin Oriental, I prefer the Four Seasons, but I would not rank this as my favorite hotel in Kuala Lumpur. Here are my impressions and photos:
This property occupies the bottom section of a large tower. I normally don’t mind a two-elevator setup for hotels, but this property’s entrance elevators to get to the lobby on 6B do seem like a bottleneck especially with ballroom traffic to 6A. Due to the lower setting, the property can’t compare to the view potential of a property like the Park Hyatt where rooms start on floor 100.
Check-in was fine, but nothing special here when compared to other hotels of even a lower brand.
I was barely upgraded from a City View King to a “Pool Garden View” King. To me, that was not an upgrade, and I have no real desire to view the pool - nor was the view all that good.
I did not need early check-in as I arrived around 4 PM, but I did ask for 3 PM or 4 PM late checkout. Unfortunately, the Chase paradigm does not compare to the guaranteed 4 PM late checkout of Amex FHR. After checking, the staff called me to tell me 3 PM was fine. I was still called at 12:40 PM to ask when I was checking out.
The room itself is fine. It does not scream luxury to me, and I disliked the cold and dark color palette. The bathroom reminded me heavily of the much cheaper Sheraton Grand Dubai in terms of design. The bed was very comfortable with plush mattress, plush pillows, and covers of okay plushness (they could be more plush). The couch was of decent comfort but could be better. The shower pressure was good / fine. The toilet had a Kohler bidet that did work but was not as nice as a Toto bidet. The room did seem to have a slight stuffy smell.
I had a $100 USD credit to use and enjoyed the banana beignets and salted caramel latte in the lobby lounge. I also ordered a lobster roll, truffle fries, and chicken breast from room service, which were all relatively good.
Breakfast in the restaurant was better than the Mandarin Oriental but not as good to me as the Grand Hyatt. My eggs royale oddly had some lettuce. The coffees were from a barista and nice. The hashbrown was good. The roti was decent.
I doubt I would come back despite the nice bed.
