I purchased the same. I then added Piedmont for $100. It was then acquired by USAir so my card became that. And then it converted to AAdmirals Club lifetime which I can use to enter AS lounges. I don't believe your TWA card was canceled. Perhaps it had a different address and AA was unable to reach you.
