As the previous OP said unless the hotel is right on the station it might be less hassle to take a grab or taxi from the start.

I see people ..... er, used to see, as I haven't been to Asia since before the pandemic

Mostly Asian (I assume) tourists, sometimes with a couple of good sized pieces of luggage.

I'm a carryon only guy, so easy peasy.

And you can always get a taxi from BTS to a hotel, though I generally just hoof it
