Happened to us. Mr and little Ms. were on a plane to join us while I checked in with the boys. We notified Marriott in advance and they said it's ok that I check in first.
Got to the hotel, the FDC said no and it turned into an ordeal. After some discussion involving calling Marriott customer service she agreed that she will run my CC and if Mr doesn't show up they will charge me the rack rate. She also demanded that Mr has to go to the front desk with his ID. I said no problem as I already showed her their boarding passes. I checked in for them.
I gave her my AMEX.
We went to pick them up and Mr went to the front desk and it was another staff there and when he said I was told I had to come here to show my id they were like "why are you here".
