We ended up with 4 A/B. I love the fact that we are facing forward and not being “eye to eye” with the passengers across the aisle. The proximity to the galley/restroom didn’t bother me. I slept pretty much the entire way on the LAX-EWR red eye.
Row 9/10 (I preferred the rear facing 9) on the lower deck of the 747-400 were great in this vein (ear plugs and eye mask solve the noise/light concerns for me). Row 17 I think it was on the upper deck too (across from the stairs) - rear facing too as a plus.
