Bringing this up again - I will be in Atlanta in two weeks for a weeklong stay. Will need to be in the Buckhead-area weekdays in walking distance to the Buckhead station, but will have a car, so staying close-by where I need to be seems to be cost-prohibitive due to the parking cost. Looking at my options I found the Perimeter area to be pretty decent given it is a very short MARTA ride to buckhead, and many hotels in that area offer free parking (ironically those closest to Perimeter Mall with free parking do not).
So here I am unsure where to stay. So far I have made reservations at the LeMeridien (where I stayed two years ago and have pretty bad memories of my stay and charges $24 for parking), the Marriott (which charges $25 for parking), the Sheraton (which is probably beyond walkable to the Dunwoody metro station) and the Fairfield Inn. Pricewise the Sheraton is way lowest followed by Fairfield and then a tie between Marriott amd LeMeridien, but all are around the $100 mark per night.. Westin and W are out of my budget, Element only gives five points per dollar and higher than the rest.
Would appreciate a lounge but it is not requirement, free parking would be great and walking distance to Dunwoody or Lennox MARTA station a definite plus. But since I stay for six nights I definetely need clean room with a comfortable bed and would love some kitchen features like a mini-fridge or microwave.
So...what is your suggestions as to where to stay? Thanks in advance for your help!
Greetings - Dirk
