IIRC, UA has pretty much abandoned scheduling any LAX-South America services post merger. In the pre-merger era, UA used MIA as a mini-hub in the 90s after taking over Pan Am’s Latin America operation (F Concourse), but could not make it work, then switched to running South America flights out of IAD and ORD.

I never had the impression UA was seriously looking at LAX-South America, but I could be wrong.
