It's been about 18 months since my last stay there. Never got any upgrades except to a higher floor, but that's probably because I was staying 3-4 weeks at a time.

Upgrades might be a little bit easier to come by now since many business travelers are opting to stay at the new Penang Marriott, but it's probably just luck of the draw.

Edit to add: Breakfast was typically fully comped for elites, but again it's been a while. I think you can get 2 free glasses of wine at the restaurant in the early evening. Might still get a 40 ringgit food/beverage credit, but last time I stayed it could no longer be used for room service. I thought meals were pretty reasonable at the restaurant with many entrees in the 40-50 ringgit range. 20 USD will buy a very nice meal.
